About this service:
The Cancer Resource Nurse can be contacted directly by people with a cancer diagnosis, family members and care givers. Health Care Professionals are also able to refer clients to the Cancer Resource Nurse. A Cancer Resource Nurse is a registered nurse who has undertaken additional education in supportive cancer care and specialises in supporting people affected by cancer in their local community. A Cancer Resource Nurse can: • Support those affected by cancer at diagnosis, during and after active treatment in navigating the individual's health and emotional needs. • Arrange referrals between services to assist those affected by cancer manage their diagnosis and treatment. • Provide information and contacts for cancer services: locally, regionally and state-wide as necessary. • Communicate on behalf of clients with their Doctors and other health care providers to ensure their health needs are met. • Facilitate cancer education for patients, community groups and health professionals Fees: There is no cost associated with this service.
