Rural Access is a Victorian State Government initiative (Department of Human Services) that responds to the needs of people with disabilities in their local communities.

The range of strategies utilised to achieve this include networking, community education, policy development, partnership development and specific project development.

Some examples of recent initiatives are the purchase of:

Mobile Toilet

Counter Hearing Loops

Telephone Typewriters

Hearing Transmitter/Receiving System

Disability Access Advisory Committee

The Disability Access Advisory Committee meets on a monthly basis and is an avenue where issues can be raised and subsequently presented to Council for further investigation, action, future planning etc.

The Rural Access Worker is based within Aged and Disability Services and may be contacted for further information on Ph: 5018 8245.
