Counselling
Counselling covers a variety of issues including: parenting, grief, self-esteem, anxiety, depression & others. Counselling offers personal support, strategies for change, someone to trust with the more difficult stuff and hope for a more positive future. Counselling support services are to individuals, couples and families.

At CHIRP we have various Counselling Programs. These include: Alcohol and Other Drug Counselling, Duty Worker, General Counselling and Groups.

Duty Worker Service
The Duty Worker Service enables you to see a worker for a single session within a week or two of contacting us. At this duty session, you can discuss your concerns and the worker can help you to decide the best course of action.

Generalist Counselling Service
The Generalist Counselling Service is available to those without a GP referral. We make appropriate referrals both to our counselling team and/or other health professionals as required. We will also attend to any immediate need and discuss coping strategies, particularly if there is a waiting period before you can attend the program we have suggested for you.

Groups
The Counselling Team may offer Groups around common issues such as Parenting, Anxiety, Grief. Groups can be a great way for people to share their experiences and solutions, and build supports that can last a lifetime. Please contact Reception for further information.

Our Service provides both Counselling and referral. If we are not able to assist, we can refer you to someone who may be more appropriate. We also work in co-operation with other service providers where required, such as GP’s, Withdrawal Nurses, Community Mental Health Service, and many others, to give you the best possible chance of overcoming whatever problems you may have.
