Walking Groups

An appointment is not required

Open to people of all ages, i.e. children, young people, adults, older people

Walking Groups
There are a range of walking groups run by CHIRP, providing short, medium, and long walks.

SOCIAL WALKERS
Days: Tuesday & Thursday
Time: 9.15am – 10.30am
Meeting place: Meet at BBQ area in Castlemaine Botanical Gardens.
Distance / degree of difficulty: Flat surface, self-paced
Staff: A Community Health Nurse will be in attendance.

EVENING SOCIAL WALKERS
Days: Tuesday & Thursday
Time: 7.30pm – 8.30pm
Meeting place: Meet outside the Ray Radfield rooms, IGA car park.
Distance / degree of difficulty: Walk for 1hour (about 5-6 kms).
Staff:

WEDNESDAY WALKERS
Days: Wednesdays
Time: 10.00am - 11.00am
Meeting place: Meet at CHIRP.
Distance / degree of difficulty: Walk for 1hour (about 5-6 kms).

Other: The walk is followed by a chat and a cuppa at CHIRP.Fee $1

Community Health Nurse
The Community Health Nurse is available for health information & advice, blood pressure, pulse & blood sugar checks.

General Information
The National Heart Foundation recommends and promotes enjoyable active living for all Australians, with physical activity being incorporated into usual daily activity as well as participation in exercise and sport.

• All people should aim to participate in moderate intensity physical activity for 30 minutes or more on most or all days of the week for health benefits.
