Council is part of the Statewide Disabled Persons Parking Scheme. The purpose of the scheme is to provide people with significant ambulatory or intellectual disabilities with equality of opportunity to access facilities and services throughout the State. Permits issued under this Scheme are also recognised in other States under reciprocal arrangements.

Council administers the scheme in accordance with statewide guidelines, to ensure consistent administrative practices. The scheme provides for two categories, with varying parking concessions, which are essentially based on the applicant’s need for assistance.

Forms are provided through Council to be filled out by the person’s doctor. The form is then returned to Council for processing.
