Microsoft Outlook

Following are instructions on how to install digital certificates supplied by Medicare Australia.

The preferred and supported email client is Microsoft Outlook.

For Microsoft Outlook 2003 with PKI cerificate supplied on a floppy disc or CD:

Mozilla Thunderbird

  1. Tools - Options - Advanced
  2. View Certificates
  3. Import
  4. Select your certificate from your computer

Lotus Notes

To read encrypted e-mails from health providers (e-referals) the user must have a digital certificate imported into their ID file in lotus Notes.

When the user is logged into Lotus Notes do the following:

  1. File, Security, User Security...
  2. Enter the user's Password -Ok
  3. Your Identity
  4. Your Certificates
  5. Get Certificates
  6. Import Internet Certificates...
  7. File name: (browse to) fac_encrypt.p12 - Open
  8. PKCS12 encoded - Continue
  9. Password: ........ - Ok
  10. Accept All
  11. Enter the user's Password - Ok
  12. Ok
  13. Ok
